I'm Drue.
Hi.

You'll find badass science, cranky politics, occasional amazing photography, mildly pretentious quotes, clever design, opinionated opinions(or Drueisms), and the occasional dumb thing that doesn't get a fancy adjective.

Feel free to ask or tell me anything, I am always open to suggestions for discussion topics. Questions and submissions are always welcome.

Most reblogs are on my separate blog linked below, except from a few important ones, responses/rants, and reblogs of my girlfriend's tumblr.

If you pull up to a drive thru, and all five of you and your fat friends are paying individually for extremely custom orders, get the fuck out of your car and go inside.

I honestly can’t say anything specific about Cabin in the Woods without giving something away.

Asides from go see it. It’s original, funny, badass, decently scary, clever, well casted, and very well constructed. Don’t even ask anyone who wrote it, or who’s in it. Don’t watch any previews or read any reviews, they will spoil something. Just see the movie and be pleasantly surprised.

These “remakes” and “rehashes” need to stop.

The new “Total Recall” doesn’t even go to Mars! They’re taking the basic premise of the memory altering machine, and the fake wife, and making A TOTALLY DIFFERENT MOVIE.

The kid in the new “Karate kid” uses Kung Fu.

The new “Battleship” movie(okay not technically a remake) has aliens?

The “Planet of the Apes” remake had Mark Wahlberg!?

I’m going to make a movie called “Superman” where some guy is injected with a super serum and starts throwing cars around, and is enraged by anything colored green. Oh and he wears a red cape. Also it’s set in the future.

Fuck you, Hollywood. It’s not a remake if it isn’t even close.

Don’t even get me started on shitty TV remakes. If they remake Family Matters or Cheers, they officially hate us.

[Edit: I just found out they’re remaking RoboCop. Fuck you.]

The most disturbing thing about this quote is the date.

What? That doesn’t even make sense. First of all, why the hell is she making only 40k a year? How does discrimination come into this, it’s hypothetical but in reference to what?
Being a douche seems more important to Wisconsin State Senator Glenn Grothman

The Affordable Care Act is looking to lose in the Supreme Court

We of course won’t know for sure for some time, but the individual mandate has existed in a distinct shade of grey since passing as part of the overall “Obamacare” law.

Who will this help most, politically? The right can of course call it a victory and wave that flag, while the left could perhaps rally behind a more aggressive (and potentially less Constitutionally risky) reform around a government health care law. Instead of halfway, going all the way.

If the individual mandate is in fact struck down, will this be a huge setback in the drive to Universal Health Care, or will it open a door to get it right this time?

Only time will tell.

Question everything.

Question everything. Not to be a rebel, not because nothing is to be trusted, but because you can’t truly understand the world around you if you haven’t bothered to figure anything out on your own.

You started when you were very young. 2+2 wasn’t intuitive like we love to make it out to be. Someone had to figure that out. Gravity we feel and experience but someone had to come along and actually figure out what the hell is happening. The greatest journey you can take doesn’t require a passport or a plane ticket, it’s in your mind. To learn from those who have come before, deconstruct and reconstruct it so you can see the truth of it yourself(or to discover the untruth or incomplete truth of it) and become something more than you were yesterday.

Your mind is not a predetermined volume, it is more malleable and endlessly voluminous than anything else. Every experience is a novel of information in the ever evolving library that exists between your ears.

Take it for a walk sometime, you don’t even have to get out of your chair.

"It’s not as trendy to be involved in the Obama campaign as it was back then. Some of you, have rolled up those HOPE posters and they’re in the closet somewhere."

Barack Obama

Yeah, there’s something the murder of citizens and someone telling me what I should and can’t put into my body that doesn’t exactly give me a boner.

(via muppetpants)

Seriously? You are upset that Michelle Obama is advocating healthier lifestyles and supporting veterans, and that you can’t drink FOUR LOKO!? You’re a real fuckin’ activist.

Anwar Al’Awlaki is a bit of a grey area, but don’t try and make it like death panels bullshit or anything like that. This isn’t even on the level of Waco.

I am not a hardcore Obama supporter, but considering that’s the best you can do when there are probably some more legitimate criticisms that can be lodged at our government, Executive branch and otherwise, then you are not trying very hard.

Maybe you should vote for people that want to improve the education in this country; it might make arguments like this either a bit more scarce, or a bit more informed.

Virginia is poised to pass legislation that would require women to endure this invasive ultrasound, for no medical reason, before receiving an abortion.

America the free.
Unless you’re a woman.
Or a child.
Or gay.
Or not white.
Or not the right kind of white.
Or not Christian.
Or not the right kind of Christian.
Or from another country.
Or you graduated from college(unless it was business school or religious studies.)
Or a free thinker.
The right sure does seem to want this Melting Pot to be pretty bland.
